You got it. He declined a ASU baseball scholarship to play hockey for U of Vermont and was an all-American that signed a bonus with Edmonton. The Angels bought him out and he had a great run with them. His had arm issues and surgery and the Sox signed him to a 5 year deal but he never regained his form.

He won 100 games and is in the Canadian Hall of Fame. His dad played for the old Roadrunners Hockey team and was known as "Terrible Ted" for not taking any BS.

Kirk is a very grounded guy with three sons and lives in Solano Beach. We vacation every year in Carlsbad and they always join us for dinners and toddies on the beach. When I asked him years ago about his arm he said that he had some bad mechanics. When I asked him why the coaches didn't alter his follow through he replied "because I was winning".
