Well her are some memories of my war hero father.
Left Texas A&M to fight for our country. Joined the Army Infantry. Soon he was in the thick of the North African campaign battling the nazis and tanks. Chased Rommel out of Africa.
On to the Sicily campaign where he took four rounds in his arm and shoulder.
Recovery in English hospital, to learn the next stop was the Normandy Invasion June 6th. Well he lived through the horror of horrors, made it up Omaha,Utah beach only to be blasted by nazis tanks for uncountable days and night. Successfuly secured the town of Cherbourg . Moving on had his calves and thighs ripped off with shrapnel from nazis tanks .
He survived. Two years recovering in English hospitals-and learning to walk again.
Back to the states, with more metals than you could count.
Started his family here in Phoenix And became a great dad to his kids. My mother said he was never the same after the war.
When I was about 10 he took me to my first ASU football game.Nice move dad.
And he never liked the UA!
Rest In Peace.
