Since March 3, I have undergone four surgeries on my right foot due to an insidious disease called charcot foot, usually related to diabetes. This weakens the bones in your foot, eventually causing deformity and, as happened in my case, eliminates all structural integrity in the foot. Surgeries one and two were to realign the foot. Surgery two was to clean out excessive drainage due to infection and the last one was to install a wound V.A.C. to constantly pump out the fluids coming out of the foot.
I now have two very large holes in the foot that need to close from the inside. I also have osteomyelitis or infection of the bone. Losing the foot is a definite possibility.
But this is just symbolic of the way that the whole world is going during the same time frame so I don't feel especially put upon.
Anyway, we are just watching the foot try to heal with a whole battery of doctors trying to save it. Thank heavens for good insurance.
Anyway, there has been some concern about this from many of you and I thought you might like an update.
