Cicadas are now living in my head. They never go away, even when it's not monsoon season. It reminds me of an old Night Gallery episode where an earwig crawled into some poor fellow's ear and nearly drove him crazy. They had to tie him down to the bed posts as he writhed in agony from the nasty insect crawling around along the folds of his brain. Oh, the horra! Then one day the unfortunate bloke woke up feeling normal again and the doctor who was treating him was standing by his bedside shaking his head in disbelief. He told the guy that it was a miracle that the earwig had somehow managed to crawl out his other ear. The man began rejoicing enthusiastically until the doctor told him that was just the good news. The bad news was that the earwig happened to be a female that laid numerous eggs in his head prior to exiting. Of course that was the twist at the end that Rod Serling was known for. That episode gave me nightmares for years.
Incidentally, the tinnitus I now must endure for the remaining balance of my life most likely explains my occasional flaky posts. I have considered severing my ear from time a la van Gogh, however, I still suffer from severe ear-severence phobia resulting from the movie, Blue Velvet.
But I digress . . .
