Once the players accept payment and become professionals, the Curt Flood ruling kicks in and the players can become free agents. If revenue sharing is better at Alabama or Texas, jump schools if you can land a roster spot. Redshirting will be contested as a restraint of trade. Free agency ruined pro sports for me. Now college sports seems to be in a decay orbit.
Most colleges net very little profit from their athletic departments. Any 50/50 profit sharing will place most underwater and might lead to sports closers in most schools. mDevil’s minor league scenario might happen, but the capital investment might be prohibitive. My alternate would be an NFL sponsored super conference. Each NFL team sponsors a D1 college team to create a 32 team conference. Or maybe 2 teams each to create 64 college teams. Players sign 5 year contracts that includes a set salary and education. The schools provide the facilities for a fee. Pretty much the end of amateur sports.
