Overall position coaching looks to be an improvement over the Graham staff. Recruiting seems to be more organized as well. The recruiters have laid the groundwork for successful 2022 and 2023 recruiting classes. Edwards is following the lead of Mario Cristobal and recruiting bigger, longer bodies that can compete on a national level. Like l have posted before, you can't pull this game plan off in a year or two. We will not be able to judge Edwards success until about 2023.
We are not out of the wood yet. Changing OCs and DCs (and both basic schemes) adds to the challenge. I also feel that losing Bercovici to the Cardinals is a big loss. Watching film of Daniels in HS and then watching his passing last year leads me to believe that Berco did wonders with that kid. Christensen seems to be a capable line coach, but I would still love to see Mawae as position coach. So much of line play depends on disciplined technique and accurate reads. (I discovered a great video piece comparing 2 All American tackles that really highlights the importance of technique.) Who better than a HOF lineman to instill that into these young linemen.
Letís just sit back and enjoy the ride.
