. . . that you don't know what you've got till it's gone.
Thinking about the toll that the pandemic has taken on so many things and reading some of our more ancient fans' reminiscences about how great their past game day experiences at the stadium used to be I am reminded of those lyrics from Joni Mitchell's Big Yellow Taxi tune.
We take things for granted but all things can and will change. They can change quickly or gradually, for better or worse, but alas, all things must pass. Therefore, enjoy what is good while you can. Let them go when the time comes, for clinging to the past is futile. Even The Big Yellow Taxi that takes everything away is being replaced; by Uber.
There's a very good Frontline documentary on the latest Big Yellow Taxi. I've linked it below. One has to wonder what the longer term economic impact will be once the government ceases its unsustainable efforts to artificially support the economy - after the election. Of course everything has and will continue to be propped up until then. That can't continue. Me thinks there is an oncoming procession of taxis out there just over the horizon. For many people sports will be the least of their concerns.
