I think the difference is control over the medium of death. My point was counter to the argument about 18 yr olds' low death rate allowing them to decide whether to play or not. We are in a Pandemic, which means Epidemic world wide. This virus is a silent killer. We have NO control over this virus. Over 160K US deaths in 5 months - when I read above the US averaged 36/yr death over a 5 yr period. OK - I'll agree that cars kill others, but this virus kills others like no other medium when you least expect it, without ever turning a key, pushing a button or pulling a trigger.
I'm curious why some of you continue these arguments or nit-pik little details like this, in a big picture issue like Covid-19. So let me ask you - how many players and/or player's family / friends are you willing to let pass away, at the expense of having college football this Fall?
My buddy who lives in AZ had to stop taking his dog to the dog park because all of the other dog owners would not wear masks. He said, " these people are easily over 60 and 70 yrs old where the chance of survival if they happen to get it is 25%-50%! If you went skydiving and they told you there is a 50/50 chance that the parachute would not open, would you jump?"
