From the Seattle newspaper covering the Huskies -
* On Wednesday, the NCAA Division I Council recommended to the Division I Board of Directors that any player who opts out or plays 50% or less than the maximum games in a spring season should have their eligibility preserved.
There are 2 possible ramifications if this goes through.
1. Seniors may opt out of a shortened Spring season to play in a fully scheduled fall season. Therefore, teams may not know what their depth chart really looks like.
2. Blue Chip HS recruits may attempt to graduate early and get a full spring practice and 5 college games of experience before restarting their eligibility in the the fall. This may be used as a recruiting tactic.
