The National Bureau of Economic Research has released a report that says college football players and college basketball players are losing out on financial reward due to these sports subsidizing non revenue sports. I think that this is a very narrow "its all about me" attitude that unfortunately is building up in the minds of the elite athlete. I think the mind set should be that one goes to college to get an education that hopefully will provide a future. Sports of all kinds provide for the over all college experience and provides great learning experiences. The football and basketball revenue is needed to fund the other sports and should be seen as an integral part in the whole sports atmosphere of the college. Those elite athletes who are just in it for the money should go play elsewhere. Maybe the XFL with the NFL sponsoring these teams as development leagues. Or they could go play in Canada or Europe or Arena league or semipro team. College football and basketball is an integral part of the college and college life.
