An emerging face along MichiganÕs offensive line is exploring the option of leaving.
Zach Carpenter, a redshirt freshman who started two games at center this season, has entered the NCAAÕs transfer portal, a team spokesman confirmed Thursday night to MLive.
Carpenter was not immediately available for comment, but he took to social media Thursday night to confirm his plans. The decision comes as a surprise after the 6-foot-5, 329-pounder took over for injured fifth-year senior Andrew Vastardis.
A 329 lbs Center is rare. This 6-5 lineman must be a heck of mobile athlete to play Center at that size. I read that he was the outstanding practice squad player as a true freshman and had impressed the coaching staff while starting a few games this year. Maybe a HOF Center should call the young man and offer his coaching services and NFL connections. Or maybe send the kid an invitation to visit the Tempe campus with some well tanned co-eds in the background.
