The article said that some schools will be telling squad members that they are welcome to remain on the roster, but they will not have a scholarship for them. That will start a mad rush to the transfer portal. But if teams use a significant number of their 25 limit 4-year scholarships to pick up transfers, they will be hard pressed to field a 85 scholarship limit in future years. Basically, the NCAA will need to make many new concessions to smooth out the next few years, or major sports will just start to ignore the NCAA like California started with its NIL payment law.
