I thought a team needed a .500 or better record to go bowling this year.
Apparently the SEC put out a call to bowls experiencing bowl opt outs from their normal conference tie-ins and let it be known if the bowl would take a 2-8 team, theyÕd love to attend.
HereÕs their 2020 bowl attendees with losing records:
Gamecocks at 2-8
Bulldogs at 3-7
Vols at 3-7
Razorbacks at 3-7
Kentucky (I wonÕt type their hideous mascot name) at 4-6
Rebels at 4-5
Combine that with their six conference teams that were eligible based on this years parameters before all the opt outs, and you get them picking up bowl checks from 11 games.
I hate the SEC, and this is typical of them, but at the same time, I respect their marketing of their conference.
Get on t.v., increase exposure, collect checks.
