I ran our office in Houston in 1990/91. I never experienced anything like Texas HS football. I lived in the Champions Forest area and on Friday the traffic was insane getting to the football fields. The only thing close in the Valley was Chandler HS. My grandson played for Mountain Ridge and as my wife and I were driving to Chandler we saw pregame fireworks. I looked at my wife and said "we are going to get killed".
The stands were packed and their band was about the size of ASU's. Mtn Ridge was mediocre at best and they got their heads handed to them. My grandson said that looking across the line he saw men not students. His lasting memory was a Poly pancaking him on a block.
They mercifully called the game with a few minutes on the clock as MR had a number of injuries. I'd pay to see Chandler vs Allen.
