There have been many suggestions on how to change college football. I am not sure any of them are realistic.
One is to spread out the top talent by reducing the number of scholarships to 75. Earlier I said this could cost up to 3000 kids to not be able to go to college. ( I now think it's closer to 2500 but do we really want to do this?)
The other two are financially related :
One is too but a cap on total spending and/or a luxury tax
The other is to cap the total amount a school can spend on coaches
The big time schools will find a way around this:
They will either bolt the NCAA or pay the tax:
DonŐt a lot of big time coaches make money on radio and TV deals not directly related to the school?
Adding more teams to the playoffs does not change the game much. Yes there will be an upset now and then.
My totally unrealistic solution in my next post.
In the meantime try and relax and enjoy the game.
