Really? seems pretty easy to me.
Tucson, like Corvallis, is out of the lime light, and would have little pressure.
CPC did turn water into wine - said another way, if you are a solid baseball recruit - why would you go to Corvallis, rather than Palo Alto, Tempe, LA, etc.? Because CPC can get you to Omaha, develop your skills and have fun. Proven track record. He got his recruits and then some.
In Tucson, CPC can relax in a warm weather climate, vacation in Oregon in the summers, play golf year round, and possibly groom his son (didn't he have a son play for him?) as a successor.
Wouldn't anyone want a reason to leave Corvallis?
