Per ESPN, The Pac-12 has announced that they will not be pursuing conference expansion "at this time". The new Pac-12 commissioner said, "The quicker the stability, the better."
Stability? That sounds a lot more like, "We didn't like any of THOSE Big 12 girls that were texting us, but we're still looking for the right hook up."
BTW, just in case the Pac-12 does start shopping for real, I hope that they whole, "BYU just doesn't make the cut," myth is finally starting to be dispelled.
All you have to do is look at the 2021 USNews overall rankings to see that BYU is plenty capable of being "worthy" of Pac-12 membership:
T153. Oregon State
176. Washington State
Realistically, only the CA schools and Washington should have any right to look down on the Cougars.
BTW - I was surprised at the strength of California school stats from those rankings:
* 9 of the Top 40 (and 16 in the Top 100) are from the state of California.
* 9 non-Pac-12, public UC-system universities were ranked higher than or tied with ASU (#103). That's a little embarrassing as a Sun Devil alum.
