Well - the bonus idea for AD/RA is spot on - this is how NGO's operate - with self assessment, against performance benchmarks set by the reviewed employee. (I am really awesome, so I should be compensated!)

I read a piece a while ago - given that the NCAA is teetering on irrelevancy - and watching "egregious" transgressors - e.g., Level 1 = U4 (paying bribes) - get slaps on wrists, that concluded that ASU should not be overly concerned.

So - assuming "facts not in evidence" - but merely reported in articles, tweets, etc. - should ASU really be concerned? Why were the 3 assistant coaches suspended summarily? Why was AP told he could not travel for recruiting? This seems so lame overall - i.e., ASU's reaction.

This is similar to a trial - where the defendant needs to be circumspect in any public statements, yet the prosecution sometime makes statements, or worse, leaks information, to increase pressure on the defense to settle.

Of course there is another strategy - be polite, curt and remorseful, and hope that the NCAA will be kind. I don't think this will work.

Bottom line - if we lose another head coach, our recruiting and "arc" will continue to stagnate. I am coming around to the idea that ASU should assert defenses (e.g., Covid, administrative mistakes, dog ate my homework, etc.) and let the chips fall. But keep AP, Breneman, etc.
