I was riding one of my go to trails outside of Denver. Came around a hairpin, and caught a glimpse of something crossing the trail about 50 yards up. I knew it wasn't anything I see regularly on that trail, but figured it was a coyote. As I pedaled up the trail and came parallel-ish to the animal, I registered a long greyish tail, with a black tuft at the end. Quickly realized it was a cougar.
Fortunately, it was likely heading to sleep for the night and didn't even turn to look at me. Needless to say there was no professional cyclist in the world that would have caught up to me over the next 200+ yards or so.
