I figured this to be a loss before the season started because November + NW road games == bad mojo for ASU.
Going back to 1993, their 3-5 record in Corvallis in late season games (November/December) doesn't look that bad, but of the three wins:
* 2020 - Weird, COVID-rescheduled game in mid-December that doesn't really count (that felt more like a terrible bowl game).
* 2017 - That Beaver team was really, really bad (1-11).
* 1996 - The Rose Bowl team struggled (trailed at the half and needed a kickoff return for a TD to wake up).
Of the five losses, the last four were relatively close (within 10 points), but ASU found a way to lose them.
Despite all of that, I'm optimistic about this game for a couple of reasons: 1) they might have turned a corner from the Wazzu game funk thanks to Rachaad White and Co., and 2) the weather forecast is tame by Arizona standards.
As long as the turnovers/penalties are finally behind this team, they win going away.
