Other than Verge it is mostly little guys getting their shot blocked or bigger guys not controlling their bodies before going back up. The former cannot really be fixed but the latter can. With the former our smaller guards need to be more cognizant of passing the ball when penetrating. The way our guards can take guys off the dribble we should be able to penetrate and dish and within 2-3 passes get an open catch and shoot three. The problem is instead of making the extra pass our guys, especially Edwards, will pump fake, dribble a bit, or take a contested 3.
: I stopped counting at 12 and that was in the first half. Our shooting percentage has been horrible but that is primarily because we cannot finish around the rim.
: In the first 10 minutes we had missed at least 7 layups. Yes, some were contested, but wow! I can always tell how well we are going to shoot the ball based on whether we are finishing at the rim.
: I would love to see our shot chart from last night. I'll bet we missed over 15 from a foot away from the rim. This is a fundamentals issue, just like free throws. Players need to spend time every day (on their own) with "finishing" drills. This has been a major issue for us in the past two years and is killing us against inferior opponents.
